PRESERVING THE PAST + LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

The Colonial Theater, built in 1913 and closed in 1969, is the last surviving historic cinema in Maine's capital city. It represents an important part of Augusta's past and that of the early film industry in this country.

We believe the Colonial's restoration and use as an arts center is critical for ensuring the economic and cultural livelihood of Augusta for many generations to come.
